Argentine Ant

argentine ant

SIZE: Workers 1/16″, Queens 1/8″

COLOR: Light to dark brown

DESCRIPTION:

Inside, Argentine Ants usually nest near a water source such as sinks or potted plants. The workers follow regular trails when foraging, and winged queens can sometimes be found among trailing workings. They prefer sweets, like sugars and syrups, but they’ll feed on almost any food. Outside, these ants typically live in shallow nests in moist areas, like under stones and around sidewalks.

CONTROL ADVICE:

Argentine Ants invade buildings in large numbers when conditions outside are either too wet or dry for them. Use sealant to fix cracks in the exterior, and keep lawns and trees maintained and away from the building. Repair any leaky water sources to lessen excess moisture and move any sprinklers that come in contact with your home.

ACTIVE SEASONS:

Spring & Summer
