Cellar Spider

cellar spider

SIZE: 1/4″ body, with long skin

COLOR: Tan or gray

DESCRIPTION:

Cellar spiders (a.k.a. Daddy Long Legs) build loose, irregular, tangled webs in corners, and hang upside down on the underside of the web. The spiders and their webs are usually found in dark and damp places, such as cellars, basements, and crawl spaces.

CONTROL ADVICE:

Cellar spiders do not pose a threat to humans. While they are commonly found in homes, they usually stay in one place and are not known to bite. Sealing outside cracks and lowering the humidity in basements with a dehumidifier or ventilation can discourage spiders. Regular removal of cellar spiders with a vacuum, brush or broom helps limit the numbers of spiders.

ACTIVE SEASONS:

Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter
