Silverfish are home invaders that prefer carbohydrates and protein, including flour, dried meat, rolled oats, paper, and glue. They can survive long periods without food, but require high humidity to survive. They are fast running and mostly active at night and generally prefer lower levels in homes, but may be found in attics. A nuisance inside the home or building, they can contaminate food, damage paper goods and books, and stain clothing.
Silverfish are attracted to wet areas. They can damage wallpaper, books, and tapestries. Check for plumbing leaks and dehumidify your rooms.
