COLOR: Reddish head and thorax; abdomen and legs are dark brown to black

DESCRIPTION:

Allegheny Mound Ants nest in fields, pastures, and wooded areas. They also live in playgrounds and lawns in suburban areas. They don’t generally enter homes, but forage on patios and decks.

CONTROL ADVICE:

Controlling these ants depends on the nest location and other factors. If treatment doesn’t kill the entire colony, their population recovers quickly. Professional pest control is recommended.
