DESCRIPTION:

Millipedes normally live outdoors, often nesting in mulch and feeding on damp decaying vegetation. They are attracted to moist areas, like mounds of leaves. They may migrate indoors during the fall when temperatures drop, or if the moisture of their original habitat becomes too high. They hide under carpets or other places inside homes that could provide a warm, moist habitat.

CONTROL ADVICE:

To prevent infestation, keep mulch less than 2″ thick and remove decaying vegetation and leaf litter from your yard. You can reduce their presence by sealing cracks in the exterior of your home, but professional treatment is generally needed to eliminate them.
