Pavement Ant

pavement ant

SIZE: 1/6″-1/8″

COLOR: Light brown to black, with pale legs

DESCRIPTION:

Pavement Ants usually live up to their name, building their colonies beneath and along the sides of pavement on patios, driveways, sidewalks and foundations of homes. The ant beds usually appear outdoors on concrete as piles of misplaced soil. Once inside your home, they will occasionally nest in walls, insulation, and under floors, often traveling through plumbing pipes and electrical wire.

CONTROL ADVICE:

Pavement Ants are often difficult to locate, so control is usually aimed at individual ants or groups of ants. Keep trees from touching the outside of walls, repair any water leaks, and seal any gaps in concrete and foundations to prevent indoor infestation. Following the trail of workers can lead to the nest.
